PhänoMINT "Abgeschaut & Nachgebaut" (Copied & Recreated) invites children to discover, marvel at, and recreate the most amazing inventions inspired by the abilities of animals and plants. This unique interactive book offers a playful insight into the exciting basics of "bionics": in this field of research, composed of the words "biology" and "technology," models for inventions, solutions to problems, and designs are sought and imitated in nature – from small insects and magnificent plants to large mammals.
24 such inventions are presented through varied experiments with easy-to-understand, step-by-step instructions that children can try out themselves. Each experiment is accompanied by great illustrations and photos, a scientific explanation of the technology used, and an illustrative info text on the natural role model for each invention. The knowledge gained can subsequently be tested in several short quizzes. Little researchers and inventors are encouraged to rediscover the wonders of nature in surfaces, means of communication, machines, and modes of transport, and to experience them for themselves.
