Leo, a little boy, likes to play at home. Darkness is at home, too. By day, it stays hidden, but at night, it comes out. Leo fears that one day the darkness will come into his room. And it actually does. It invites Leo to come with it into the basement, where it lives. There, Leo learns that the darkness is actually quite nice. The darkness even gives Leo a lightbulb.
In the evening, as Leo lies in bed again and the lightbulb bathes his room in a warm glow, the darkness he had always feared has vanished from his room. Except when he closes his eyes to sleep. Since Leo has gotten to know the darkness, he is no longer afraid of it. And that is very comforting for Leo.
