Following the two successful albums "Unter meinem Bett" 1 & 2, we are entering the third round with new bands and artists! The result is once again a varied album with cool lyrics and new rhythms for children aged 4 and up (and their parents).
"Unter meinem Bett" brought a real breath of fresh air to the children's music market with its first two albums. The innovative concept features established bands and artists who usually make music for adults writing songs for children. And they do so with absolutely no constraints on content or musical style. The result is a diverse and surprising set of albums, varying from profound to funny in terms of lyrics, and from soft to rock-oriented in terms of music. Finally, music for children that adults enjoy too!
For "Unter meinem Bett 3," another illustrious group of musicians from Germany has come together, writing songs for the new album with great imagination and lots of fun. Among them are KLEE, Dokter Renz (Fettes Brot), Maxim, and Clueso. As with the first two records, the songs were produced without any mutual coordination. This has once again created the typically colorful mix that makes "Unter meinem Bett" so unique on the German children's music market.
Just as on the first two albums, there are catchy tunes that invite you to sing along at the top of your lungs, like "Schweinhornschnabelohrwurm," a song with witty wordplay by KLEE, or the rousing "Lass mich nicht allein" (I'm already so big and so cool and don't need you! Ugh, wait, actually I do!) by Dokter Renz with Francesco Wilking.
Things get more thoughtful and quieter with "Planet" by Deniz Jaspersen (of Herrenmagazin), a touching song about environmental destruction and climate change, or "Issam" by Maxim, which provides an insight into the emotional life of a refugee child, completely without a heavy-handed moral, using linguistic imagery that children understand immediately.
Themes from everyday life for children are brought to our ears by the likes of Sven van Thom, who describes in "Mein kleiner Bruder" how it feels when Mom and Dad come home with a newborn sibling. Or OVE, who perform "Lisa," a heartbreakingly romantic song about a first kindergarten crush.
Once again, it is difficult to settle on a favorite song on the album: every track on the record is unique and special in its own right. Even in its third edition, "Unter meinem Bett 3" isn't getting any quieter, delivering great tunes for singing along, cool lyrics, and new rhythms—so there is only one thing to say: TURN IT UP!
