The limited edition Opinel No. 08 Arizona combines wood of exceptional density and aesthetics with a new blade color.
The No. 08 – Opinel's iconic pocket knife – thus becomes an object of sophistication, awakening the senses with its warm, copper tones.
Arizona wood, also known as Desert Ironwood, comes from the Mojave Desert in Arizona. It is a rare and precious wood from a dead tree that has dried in place for several years. Semi-fossilized, it ranges from reddish-brown to dark brown and has a very distinct grain. It is one of the heaviest and densest woods and does not float on water.
PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) is a coating process using hard metal deposits with ionized metal vapor. It is a surface treatment process that colors the blades while making them more resistant to wear and scratches.
The No. 08 Arizona has a copper-colored, PVD-treated Sandvik 12C27 blade and ferrule, which perfectly match the warm tones of the wood.
