There are many books about bees, but this one is different: "Brummsumm – Discover the World of Honey Bees" is a unique mix of a storybook and a factual book. The book tells the story of little Leni, who strikes up a friendship with a bee named Ari, combined with a non-fiction section that explains the honey bee's way of life in detail. It opens the door to the world of honey bees for children in an emotional yet informative way – an extraordinary book in cooperation with Deutschland summt!

8-year-old Leni meets a young bee named Ari, who has tumbled out of her hive during a hornet attack. Leni rescues Ari and takes her to a beekeeper in the countryside, where she finds a new bee family. Along the way, Leni learns quite a lot about these little pollinators, which also consistently amazes the reader. For example, there are the various jobs within a bee colony that Ari must take on one by one throughout her life. Through the fictional story of Leni and Ari, an emotional door is opened for children to approach an animal that we have always reacted to with fear at first glance. Little (and big) readers root for Leni and Ari's exciting story and understand in the end how closely we are all connected.

The non-fiction section explains the way of life of the honey bee in detail. What tasks do the workers have during their lives? Why can there only be one queen in the hive? How are six-sided honeycombs created? These and many more questions are answered in the form of numerous technical facts that satisfy the thirst for knowledge about the lives of these important insects.

This special mix of a storybook and non-fiction book is the perfect combination of emotion and well-founded knowledge about our nature. Wonderful illustrations and photos round off the reading and learning experience.
