Little Sun - The solar lamp by Olafur Eliasson and Frederik Ottesen
A little sun with a big impact.
Artist Olafur Eliasson and engineer Frederik Ottesen
have developed the small, high-quality Little Sun LED solar lamp
to bring clean and affordable light to the 1.1
billion people in the world who do not have a constant
power supply.
Little Sun is both a practical
solar lamp and a coveted art object, a social
business model, and a global project that connects people
around the globe.
Every Little Sun sold enables
sales in regions without electricity at locally affordable
prices.
Little Sun offers an alternative to harmful
and expensive kerosene lamps, which often serve as the only
light source in regions without electricity after dark.
Compared over two years, the clean and safe light of the
solar lamp is actually 90 percent cheaper.
In regions with a reliable power grid, Little Sun is the
perfect companion when camping, in the garden, or at home
as a decorative and energy-saving light source. At the same time,
the little sun informs people all over the world about
the benefits of solar energy and sustainable energy sources.
After five hours of charging in the sun, it provides
either up to fifty hours of soft light or four hours of bright
light. Little Sun makes sustainable light available anywhere in the world.
Charging & Usage & Light Output
To charge, place the Little Sun Original in the sun with the solar panel facing upwards.
5 hours of charging time provides 4 hours of bright light or, thanks to the dimming function, up to 50 hours of soft light.
