Opinel Pocket Knife No. 08, ESCAPADE ELEVATION Edition

With the limited edition collection Edition ESCAPADE, Opinel has once again created a series of three knives. To do so, they commissioned Jeremy Groshens, who travels across France in a 1972 camper trailer offering his services as a tattoo artist. ESCAPADE represents the longing to break free from everyday life and to enjoy nature and adventure. Groshens’ illustrations are inspired by the landscapes, mountains, as well as the flora and fauna. ELEVATION – the ELEVATION motif, which translates roughly to elevation relief, is unmistakably inspired by Japanese print art. The Opinel ELEVATION pays tribute to landscapes and mountains that are often spiritually venerated, as one might recognize from the term "sacred mountains." The elevation profiles of several mountains appear harmonious and yet minimalist; Jeremy Groshen plays with soft lines, colors, and shading. The beauty of the Opinel ELEVATION only reveals itself upon closer inspection. The Opinel Edition Escapade No. 08 ELEVATION is limited to 7,600 pieces worldwide, and the knives are individually numbered. Like the regular Opinel No. 08, the knife features a blade made of modified 12C27 Sandvik steel and the blade can be locked using the Virobloc safety ring.
