Where the cocoa comes from:
The Dominican Republic is a well-known supplier of Trinitario cocoa. Our partner, Conacado, is a cooperative representing 10,000 smallholder cocoa farmers and has initiated the transition to well-fermented organic and Fairtrade cocoa for customers with high quality standards. They have built large facilities on the island across seven regions, where the cocoa is fermented and dried under constant quality control.
Organic cocoa promotes good biodiversity on the plantations in two ways: it improves the content of organic matter in the soil, keeping soil life at a certain level, and it improves the soil's water management (the soil's sponge effect). Additionally, shade trees must be planted, which create niches for birds and insects!
The premium supports educational programs and training for farmers, making Conacado a key player for smallholders in the Dominican Republic.
Ingredients: cocoa mass, sugar, milk powder, cocoa butter, cocoa nibs (5%), coffee (1.2%). At least 52% cocoa solids. All ingredients from organic farming. May contain traces of nuts.
